ABSTRACT

This research begins with the possibility of taking advantage of a very unusual situation, such as the first days of a dramatic pandemic with a significant impact on tourism activity, to obtain relevant information on stakeholder perceptions at that precise moment. The aim is to capture the different perceptions on the effects and possible recovery strategies for destinations, which could condition the touristic make-decision process for its design. For this, 285 professionals in the Spanish tourism sector were surveyed between 03/27/2020 and 04/30/2020. A review of other exogenous touristic crises has been done to define this survey process, identifying the primary variables, dimensions and consequences, and the recovery strategies applied. The results permit identifying preferences of the sector in an extreme crisis and identifying differences between different stakeholder types. This research offers a substantial amount of relevant information which can be very useful to compare with future research after recovery and to be able to conclude this kind of rush and uncertain decision- making processes with a view to a more efficient early design of recovery strategies against the exogenous crisis. © 2022 Universidad de Murcia. ABSTRACT

Currently, most educational centers have specific spaces where, depending on the technology available in them, specific practices are carried out. Some examples of these spaces are the computer labs, electronics, biology, chemistry, or maker spaces. The CreaSTEAM project aims to create STEAM spaces in schools, so that they are multidisciplinary and transversal spaces where elements and technologies of all kinds coexist, and above all, rather than being focused on technology, they are focused on the development of STEAM skills and vocations, especially to reduce gaps in diversity. This article focuses on the design of an instrument that allows the conceptualization of STEAM practices in these new educational environments, contemplating and relating both educational methodologies, technologies, and diversity gaps to be solved or studied.

ABSTRACT

The crisis derived from the covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to improve and review our model of economy and society. It has been evidenced the importance of giving greater relevance to science, the use of knowledge, and the incorporation of values related to sustainability and solidarity. Based on the financial resources provided by the European Union, the member states have designed plans aimed at overcoming the health, economic and social crisis as well as the previous existing imbalances. In this context, and considering a country like Spain, with a business structure characterized by the small business size, the involvement of Social Economy entities could be a guarantee for the good use of the European funding deployed, due to the resilience generated by the network of mutual support and the ability to promote collective projects that combine the economic with the social, favoring the development of spaces. But, in this case, it seems that the weaknesses of many Social Economy entities, related to their small size, have been able to play against the sector. With the caution due to the data provisionality, it can be said that the pandemic has also truncated the growth trend in the business size of the sector. Of the different families of the Social Economy, and compared with the whole of the Spanish productive fabric, cooperatives have been the companies that have resisted the best, both in the number of companies and in employment, and labor societies the worst.

ABSTRACT

The pandemic situation has driven to several measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. One of these measures is social distance and, as a consequence, limitation of capacity of indoor closed spaces. This makes necessary the deployment of systems that help to control occupancy of spaces. This work proposes a low-cost system to control access to an indoor closed space with a single door. The system is based in a two laser Time-of-Flight sensors VL53L0X over a HiLetgo UNO R3D1R32 ESP32 micro-controller. The system counts the occupancy of the room and share it with a database and a dashboard, using Node-RED. The tested prototype shows a 86.6% reliability that increases to a 100% reliability when users are informed to enter or exit one by one. The main contributions of this work are: to control capacity of one-entrance indoor closed space with a low cost open system;and to record occupancy of the room in order to analyse it behaviour with time. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

ABSTRACT

The context of the COVID pandemic has accelerated the pace of the digitalization of society, especially of its business fabric. Among the various applications offered by the Internet, social networking platforms have been identified as powerful tools that organizations have at their disposal for the development of their online business activities. This is due to the closeness and trust generated by word-of-mouth communication. In this context, the aim of this article is to identify which organizational characteristics are directly related to popularity on social networks, measured by the number of followers on these accounts. In order to achieve this objective, the Argentinean beekeeping organizations have been taken as a case study and the fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis method has been used. The results obtained allow us to validate the different organizational factors which, beyond the use of Facebook itself, lead to better results for the organizations in their social network strategies. These factors include their cooperative nature, localization, environmental sensitivity and presence on other digital platforms. © 2021 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.
